The first Viper prototype was tested in 1989, two years later it debuted with two pre-production models as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500. The Viper was used due to complaints from the UAW workers that Dodge was using the Japanese built Dodge Stealth instead of a car produced here in the states. The Viper was introduced to the market in January of 1992 as the RT/10 Roadster and remained that until Daimler Chrysler’s street and racing group completely redesigned the Viper in 2002 naming it the Viper SRT- 10. The newly designed SRT-10 had a restyled exterior as well as performance upgrades, the engine’s displacement was increased to 8.3 L (506 Cubic Inch) which increased power ratings to 500 Hp and 525 lb. ft. torque at the same time as a nearly 500 lb. reduction in weight. The chassis was also improved becoming more rigid and weighing approximately 80 lbs. less than the previous model. This particular SRT-10 is finished in beautiful red exterior with black leather interior. The convertible top is in wonderful condition and allows for a nice open air rip down the highway. The side pipes let out an incredible exhaust note which will make any enthusiast excited. This example has only traveled 12,690 miles since new and is begging to be driven.
