For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1996 Pontiac Trans Am. This isn't your typical Trans Am. This one is far from stock and the list of upgrades goes on and on. Powering this 1996 Pontiac WS6 Trans Am is a 450 horsepower 350 cubic inch LT1. In order to achieve this much horsepower there was need for some serious attention. A custom grind roller camshaft from Competition Cams with .610 lift and 232 duration was used, Competition Cams roller lifters and rockers, GM 643 heads that were heavily ported and machined by Lloyd Elliot of Epotworks, Ferrea valves, Bee Hive high lift springs, new seats, 5 angle valve job and High Tech hardened push rods. The intake has also been ported and uses a billet aluminum 58mm throttle body. Spark comes from a GM Opti Spark distributor, GM coil and 8mm plug wires. Fuel is injected by 30 lb Accel injectors. The bottom end was inspected, cleaned up and fitted with new rings and bearings. Exhausting all of this fuel and air is accomplished by thermal ceramic coated Hooker long tube headers through custom 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust back to a set of Flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers with QTP 3 inch electric cut outs. The engine produces 450 horsepower at the flywheel and 397 to the rear wheels. Just behind the engine is a Ram stage 3 clutch, 6-speed transmission, 3 inch balanced aluminum driveshaft and finally to a 10 bolt rear end housing a set of 4.10:1 rear gears.

In order to put all of this power to the road, a lot had to be done to the suspension as well. All suspension and chassis parts are powder coated. In the front we have a Hotchkis 25mm sway bar, Hotchkis strut tower brace, BMR lower A arms with new Moog ball joints, BMR progressive rate lowering springs, Koni Yellow adjustable shocks on all four corners, Moog shock mounts, Moog outer tie rods and Moog front hubs and bearing assembly. Out back is an adjustable torque arm, BMR lower control arms SLP Double Diamond sub frame connectors and Hotchkis adjustable panhard bar. Slowing things is done thanks to a set of SLP drilled, dimpled and slotted rotors, Hawk HPS front and rear race pads, Twin piston LS1 calipers and stainless brake lines.

The interior is in great condition and appears to be mostly stock. There is a white face gauge kit and Auto Meter gauges. A Sony stereo, 9 band equalizer and 2 amplifiers that do not intrude on t-top storage all powering Cerwin Vega speakers. Other than that it is all standard Trans Am. There is roughly $15,000 invested in this 1996 Pontiac Trans Am with less than 4,000 miles on the build. Currently a two owner and originally from South Carolina. This black over black 1996 Pontiac WS6 Trans Am is ready for a new owner to pop out the T-Tops and scare the neighbors.
