1956 Ford Thunderbird

Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis is proud to offer a sharp 1956 Ford Thunderbird. George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola collaborated to create a "car guy" classic and released American Graffiti in 1973. This coming of age story followed a group of teenagers on their last night in town before shipping off to college. Richard Dreyfuss' character spent his evening pondering his future and chasing a gorgeous blonde in a white 1956 Thunderbird. "The Blonde" was played by Suzanne Somers, and she eventually made Richard Dreyfuss' night by speaking with him on the phone. The elusive white T-Bird was a '56 model sporting the port hole hard top and a continental kit. Up for sale is a twin of that movie car that would look at home parked next to Milner's 5 window and the black '55 Chevy.

This T-bird has the larger 312 CID V8 engine under the hood and a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. The larger 312 boosted horsepower to 215 which is more than enough in a small car. With the 3 speed manual, it certainly is a fun car to drive. This particular car has been upgraded to have front disc brakes to aid in braking performance. Another welcome upgrade is the 12 volt conversion which does wonders for the reliability of the car. A more modern carburetor has been added as well to make this a turnkey, no worries car. The exterior in white contrasts well with the white/red two tone interior. This particular T-bird has an updated AM/FM/Cassette stereo so you can jam your favorite tunes while you cruise with the top down.
