The Gateway Classic Cars Showroom of Saint Louis is proud to offer a very rare, unique and low mileage 1979 Ford Thunderbird Convertible.

Ford did not offer a convertible for 1979, but a company in Beverly Hills CA called American Custom Coachworks, LTD decided the car would be better with a drop top. They engineered a way to remove the steel top, strengthen the body to accommodate the open roof, and add their custom power top mechanism that looks so good you'd think it came from the factory. The vehicle still retains the full use of the back seat and all over features including power windows. This allows for the ultimate 4 seater convertible that will certainly stand out from the crowd. It is believed that only about 1000 conversions were completed in 1979, and this one has got to be one of the best preserved examples.

With only 10,003 miles on the odometer, this T-Bird has had an easy life. Used mostly for parades, and shows, this T-Bird has countless awards to boast, and condition you'd expect from such a low mileage vehicle. Maintenance has not be neglected, as this vehicle has been given regular checkups and sports a clean bill of health. The vehicle is ready to continue its duty as a show vehicle, or could easily be driven more regularly as a stylish cruiser. This example is finished in a beautiful Bronze exterior and has a white convertible top.

Inside is Buckskin colored upholstery which screams 1970s luxury. Power equipment is everywhere: seats, windows, steering, brakes, top, and even cruise control. With a 351 under the hood, and an automatic transmission, the T-Bird cruises wonderfully on the highway or around town.
