Powering this Japanese built classic is the silky smooth 2.8L, 2753cc, inline 6 cylinder engine. Zipping through the 5 speed manual transmission is an absolute joy in this little car. The light blue exterior paint has a hint of silver in it, and looks great on this Z car. The black vinyl interior is in very good condition, it is free from any rips, tears, or wear. In 1979 an X was added to the Z name, creating the 280ZX and a new legacy. The 79' 280ZX was also a complete redesign. The driveline, including the 2.8L inline 6 cylinder engine, was retained from the 78' 280Z. The new ZX was available in both a 2 seat and 4 seat (2+2) platform. An emphasis on driver comfort and ride quality was instilled in the new ZX, it was intended to be a Grand Touring car. It was a bit heavier and softer than the previous Z car. The seats were more comfortable, the suspension was softer, and better sound insulation was used as well. The exterior design featured less rounded lines and better integrated safety bumpers. 1979 also marked the beginning Datsun's global transition to the Nissan name, as it was co-branded "Datsun by Nissan" in the American market through the 1983 model year.
