This is a great example of a very well restored first year Thunderbird. The smooth running 292 fires right up and idles smoothly. Equipment includes Power steering, Power brakes and Power windows. It is painted in an eye catching red over two tone red and white interior with a matching red hard top. Adding to the pop and shimmer is a set of radial wide white wall tires wrapped around a set of wire wheel hub caps for a very classy look. Power from the 292 is sent through a smooth shifting automatic transmission. The odometer is showing 88,393 with roughly 3,000 since the rebuild.
The Thunderbird was Ford’s answer to the Corvette and they ended up selling 23 of them to every Corvette in 1955. This almost put an end to the Corvette until the Thunderbird went another route in 1958 and leaned more towards the luxury market by adding a couple of more seats. The first-generation Thunderbird will always be a recognizable car and who can forget Suzanne Sommers driving a white T-Bird in American Graffiti?
