Designed and originally built by Ferdinand Porsche, the world has had a love affair with the Beetle for nearly 70 years now. Models progressed from its origin in the 1950s to include different engines, trim, and creature comforts, but the overall design never changed. This particular '78 model is a sought after convertible style which still features the iconic silhouette with the top up, but offers the option of open air motoring. Being later in the German production run, this example has a Fuel Injected 1,600cc air cooled flat four. Know for their simplicity and reliability, this VW boxer engines were perfect for economy cruising. This particular example has an engine with less than 10,000 miles which is ready to cover many more miles. The transmission is a standard 4 speed manual which is a joy to run through the gears. The car is finished in a unique shade of Champagne which has been professionally resprayed in 2012. Even more recently it has received a new white convertible top which looks good and functions quite well. The white top matches the white vinyl interior which is rather snazzy for a typically plain Jane Beetle interior.
