For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a 1974 Porsche 914 Limited Edition Creamsicle. In 1973 the Porsche 917/30 dominated the Can-Am series, so much so that the SCCA had to rewrite the rules, and outlawed the truly unlimited road-racing cars. To celebrate the dominating performance of the 1,000 plus-horsepower racer, Porsche produced 1,000 Limited Edition 914s. The 1,000 914s were all equipped with the 2.0L Flat-Four engine, special badging, and a choice of only 2 color schemes. 500 were finished in black with Sunflower Yellow rocker panels, bumpers, spoilers, and wheels. This color combination earned the nickname Bumblebee. The other 500 were finished in light ivory with Phoenix Red rocker panels, bumpers, spoilers, and wheels. This unique color combination became known as Creamsicle. The Limited Edition, or LE, package was an option on top of the Appearance Group option that cost $300. The LE package cost an additional $320, on top of the Appearance Group options (fog lights, center console, with clock and additional gauges) the LE package included alloy wheels, a special interior, front and rear anti-roll bars, and a front spoiler. The negative stripe along the rocker panels that read "Porsche" was also a nice add. This particular 1974 Porsche 914 LE features the "Creamsicle" paint scheme, light or white ivory over Phoenix Red, with black vinyl interior. Both the exterior paint and interior show some age, but are in overall good condition. The 2.0L Flat-Four engine has been pulled and repainted. The engine looks brand new, and it runs pretty darn good too. The odometer reads 73,133, the actual mileage is unknown, but believed to be just a couple thousand more than the odometer reading. Options for this 1974 Porsche LE include: AM/FM Radio, Aluminum/Alloy Wheels, Radial Tires, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, and a Targa Top. These 914 Porsches are an absolute blast to drive, they are light and very agile.
