BACKGROUND: From 1959 to 1990 the Buick Electra was one of the full-sized luxury cars in the General Motors family. It was named after Electra Waggoner Biggs, who was the sister-in-law of Harlow H. Curtice, former president of the Buick division and later president of General Motors. During its more than 30-year run, Electra was offered in varying body styles including coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. It was rear-wheel drive from 1959 to 1984 and then converted to front-wheel drive (except station wagon) in 1985. The Electra was replaced by the Buick Park Avenue in 1991.
This particular 1976 Buick Electra Limited has been kept in very good condition by the current owner who has had it in their possession since 1999. The only thing that does not function as it should is the interior clock. The exterior of the body is in good condition. There is no corroding rust underneath or anywhere else, and the body lacks any very noticeable scratches or dents. The interior of the vehicle has also been well-kept. The seats are a combination of well-cushioned cloth and leather trim. The dash, headliner, and carpeting are all clean and do not show any fading from the sun or excessive wear.
Underneath the hood is the original 455 V8 with 153,267 miles. It is being driven by an automatic three-speed transmission. As you can see in the video, it starts, stops, and runs very smooth.
