Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this stunning 1940 Buick Special. Let’s start with the styling of this beauty. At first sight, you will notice the seductive, curvaceous lines that surround this Buick Special. The curves are matched well with an elongated nose creating an illusion of speed. The gorgeous “cranberry red” exterior on this Buick Special will captivate you and lure you in for a closer look. Chrome accents compliment the outer shell with a large, centerpiece chrome grille that screams Buick.

The interior of the car drives home the name “Special.” The cranberry and peanut butter cream combination invites you in with such elegance. The interior is simplistic yet complex, heightening your senses with several different textures and touches. The seats are wrapped in soft vinyl with plush cloth inserts. Adding to the luxury essence is the beautifully marbled wood grain dashboard with the chrome bezel gauges and AM Radio face. If that isn’t enough to keep your eyes wondering, the light tan headliner and black framing on the window brings it all together and takes it to another level.

Powering this excellent machine was Buick’s Straight-8 engine, otherwise known as the Fireball 8. The “Fireball 8” mustered up 120 hp in the 1940 40 series Buick Special. This may not sound impressive in comparison to today’s standards, but let’s put this into perspective. Thirty-seven years later, the 1967 Chevy Nova’s 283 V8 version was only rated at 195 horsepower, which was considered a “Muscle Car.” Although the horsepower rating isn’t frightening, this car has enough spunk to get up to speed and cruise along with traffic on the highway. Being an automatic transimission, makes it a great car for the entire family to enjoy and drive. If you’re searching for a classic that retains originality, but still unique enough to make people say, “what’s that” or “you don’t see one of those everyday”, then this is a car for you. Options include two spare tires, Vinyl and Cloth Interior, and Wide White Wall Tires.
