Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to list this numbers matching 1966 Pontiac GTO with a Hurst 4 speed manual transmission, new paint, new interior, new grills, new chrome bumpers and emblems. It's matched with a “new" 1966 correct Tri-Power carb system..

The Pontiac GTO (Grand Turismo Omologato) is considered by many the first true muscle car. When other manufacturers were concentrating on their full size lines, Pontiac saw the potential for dropping a big block engine into an intermediate frame and marketing it at a budget price. 1964 was the year that started it all when Pontiac put a GTO package together as an option on their LeMans and Tempest models. This 1966 GTO Coupe is one of 10,363 produced vs. 73K+ hardtops produced and was born on 1stweek of May 1966 in Fremont CA and has just completed a two-year process of new paint and interior with only a couple miles since restoration. The current owner purchased the car in 2007 and is stationed in Alaska and is choosing to sell verse ship and store. It is a Pontiac Historical Society (PHS) certified car and came very nicely equipped with a long list of options which include the 4 speed synchro mesh transmission (M20), a pushbutton radio with manual antenna, custom seat belts, the rally gauge cluster with tachometer, rally wheels, a center console, power steering, Soft Ray tinted glass, factory air conditioning car and the GTO package which consists of the 4 barrel 389 ci V8, dual exhaust and exterior badges. It currently has a flowmaster exhaust installed and sounds amazing. The original factory color was Barrier Blue with a blue interior. It was repainted Fontaine Blue which was also correct factory color for 1966.

The engine is a WW -coded 389, which is the standard 335 horsepower engine in 66. GM didn't stamp the VIN on the block in 66, so it's impossible to say any 1966 GTO is matching numbers, but this one has all the right clues. A Tri-Power intake setup was added during the restoration using correct date coded intake. The overall condition of this beautiful GTO is superb and is ready to be enjoyed on the streets or even standing tall in car shows.

This vehicle will come with all the PHS paperwork, manual, wiring diagram and some receipts.
