In the early 1950s the wagon was going through a renaissance with the introduction of all steel bodies, the wagon was no longer an expensive wooden framed luxury item for hotels and the wealthy. The Ranch trim of wagons was Ford attempt at an affordable family and workaday runabout with value and thriftiness as it's primary focus. The early 2 door styling was Ford's take on the British 'shooting Brake' concept. A concept that envisioned a 2-door wagon for adventure excursions with a retractable roof so one could shoot while standing in the vehicle. While an awesome concept, most just served as practical sports car alternatives or as work a day utilitarian runabout...like the Ford Ranch Wagon.
This 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon has been tastefully hot rodded with a modern Ford 302 V8, topped with an Edlebrock manifold and 4-barrel carb. It's been blessed with a modern 134a AC system and 3 speed automatic transmission. The interior is finished in a custom blue with white inlays and blue piping. This is a perfect contrast to the silver and blue two-tone exterior. The car rides on chrome American Racing 5 spokes with lowering springs for an improved stance. The car drives as well as it looks. With good power and a smooth ride.
