In the dawning age of the high-horsepower muscle car era, the 1966 Chevrolet Corvair stood as an alternative to import cars like the Volkswagen Beetle with its rear-engine, rear-drive configuration. In 1966, the Chevrolet Corvair was offered with numerous body styles, and this particular Corvair is the four-passenger, two-door Monza Sport Coupe model. Powering this little thrill is a 2.7L flat-six engine and in 1966 the change of note was a new four-speed synchromesh transmission using the standard Saginaw gear set with 3.11:1 first gear ratio used by other GM 6-cylinder vehicles. This sports car is painted in Red with Red vinyl interior and carpeting. This interior flows well with white accents throughout. One neat thing about the Corvair is the gear shifter lever to the right of the steering wheel. Options on this 1966 Chevrolet Corvair include AM/FM/CD player with upgraded speakers, seat belts, vinyl interior and radial tires. This car even has chrome dual exhaust and chrome wheels with white wall tires that add to the sport look.
