Up for sale in our Tampa showroom is a classy 1964 Chevrolet Corvair convertible. The Chevrolet Corvair is a compact automobile manufactured and marketed by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1960–1969 model years. As the only American-designed, mass-produced passenger car to feature a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. The name "Corvair" is a blend of two legendary Chevrolet models, Corvette and Bel-Air. This 1964 Chevrolet Corvair convertible has a white exterior paint that is very nicely complimented by a red vinyl interior and black convertible top. The power plant for this little rear-mounted engine convertible is 164 CID 6 cylinder rated at 110 horse power that is mounted to a smooth shifting 2 speed power glide automatic transmission. The Corvair competed with imported cars such as the original Volkswagen Beetle, as well as the Ford Falcon, Plymouth Valiant, and Studebaker Lark. In 1964 there were 214,483 Corvairs produced and unlike many other cars produced in this year you will see less survivors on the road today of the Corvair models. These cars are a lot of fun and make great cruisers for the entry level classic car collector or long time admirer of the General Motors brand. Options include: AM/FM radio with cassette player, manual convertible top, seat belts, vinyl interior, wire wheel hub caps and radial tires.
