Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer one of the rarest sleepers you'll ever find: the 1970½ Ford Falcon. And yes, this is a Falcon!

At a time when Ford was replacing the small-body Falcon with the Maverick, the Falcon name was actually used on two different cars in 1970, the compact 1970 Falcon and the full-size 1970½ Falcon. This latter model was produced for less than six months and only available as a two-door "post" sedan (it has a B-pillar behind the driver door glass), while the Torino and Fairlane has a more extensive body offering. The car you see here was built in Ford's Atlanta, Georgia plant in May 1970, which was getting close to the end of the production for this half-year wonder. Sold originally at Gallo Ford in Chicago for a $3,840 to its current and original owner, this 1970½ Ford Falcon has less than 6,000 miles. That’s about 127 miles per year!

The 1970½ Ford Falcon was offered with several engine options, but this particular car has the legendary 429 Cobra Jet under the hood. This engine is backed by a four-speed manual transmission, and it has the optional Drag Pack with a Detroit Locker rear differential with 4.30 gears. This bulletproof setup made the 1970½ Ford Falcon extremely popular among drag racers as was the case with this car. It was drag raced for the first few years of its life and then it then sat in climate controlled storage for the next almost 40 years of its life until it was cleaned up and put up for sale in our Tampa showroom. Even more impressive, the Deluxe Marti Report shows that this 1970½ Falcon is just 1 of 42 to be powered with the Super Cobra Jet engine package but not include the Ram Air package allowing this car to fly under the radar! This car is all original with the exception of the Hurst shifter, the ignition coil and wires and the carburetor (although the original carb comes with the car).

Ultimately, the 1970½ Ford Falcon marked the end of the road for the Falcon name in North America, and this is your chance to own one of the coolest and rarest Falcons ever made!

This gorgeous 1970½ Ford Falcon comes with options such as vinyl seats, AM Radio, seat belts and Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in the original bias ply tires.
