Description

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to present a step back in time with a touch of contemporary flair in this stunning 1950 Ford Deluxe / Super Deluxe commonly referred to as a Shoebox Ford. The 1950 Ford combines classic design with modern upgrades to create a one-of-a-kind driving experience.

Beneath the hood, you'll find an Olds Rocket 350 V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission, operated by a genie tiptronic style shifter ensuring smooth and reliable performance for your journeys. Nearly 200 louvers were added to maximize airflow to the engine and cockpit. The frame on this 1950 Ford Deluxe / Super Deluxe is a full box and X member mated to a Pontiac Firebird sub frame with the original Ford rear end.

To give a little history; This 1950 Ford Deluxe / Super Deluxe was customized in Huntington Beach California where it was purchased by the current owner in 1985. The top is a true California "Carson" lift off top which features a custom headliner displaying the iconic Wurlitzer 1015 "Bubbler Jukebox" that lights up. The interior color scheme is just as impressive as the exterior and contains two-tone 60/40 split power seats.

The doors were rehung to open suicide style and are power operated. The trunk was chopped and customized to a rumble seat compartment which is also power operated. The grab bar for the rumble seat was made from Marine grade stainless steel and has it's own lighting and speakers.

The windshield was chopped 3 1/2 inches, custom step plates were sculpted into the left quarter panels while each step is lighted and adorned in with a Chrome Oldsmobile emblem to signify the powerhouse below the hood. It has been lowered by 2 inches and rides on custom wheels wrapped in radial tires, complete with white walls that add a touch of retro class.

Notable features include front power disc brakes, power seats, power windows, and power locks, all designed to enhance your driving convenience. The tilt steering wheel offers a more personalized driving experience, while power steering and power brakes ensure that handling this classic beauty is as effortless as it is enjoyable.

Among the many added custom features are frenched blue dot headlights, frenched Jaguar P-80 headlights, Dodge Viper Road lights are molded into the custom grill, period correct Marilyn Monroe steering knob and the original drivers side mirror with thermostat.

The am/fm radio with CD player allows you to enjoy your favorite tunes on the go and the original Mopar Hi-Way HIFI 45 rpm under the dash is a nice blast from the past.
