Description

Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is pleased to offer for sale this 1967 Volkswagen Beetle. A beautifully restored and tastefully modified Cal Look–style example that combines classic air-cooled Volkswagen charm with thoughtful performance upgrades and excellent drivability. Finished in a striking red exterior, this Beetle presents extremely well and reflects a high level of care and attention to detail throughout.

The exterior features clean body lines with a lowered stance that perfectly captures the Cal Look aesthetic. Chrome trim and bumpers are in excellent condition, complementing the deep red paint nicely. A roof rack adds both visual character and practicality, enhancing the vintage appeal while remaining period-correct. The car sits on black-centered wheels with polished lips, giving it a timeless performance look that contrasts sharply against the red paint. The wheels are wrapped in low-profile performance tires, providing a confident stance and improved road handling.

Under the rear decklid sits a professionally built 2165cc air-cooled engine with approximately 1,000 miles since completion, fully documented with receipts. The engine features Stage 2 race-ported cylinder heads with 42 x 35.5 stainless steel valves, dual valve springs, and a carefully selected valvetrain designed for strong street performance. An Engle 120 camshaft, lightweight performance lifters, and an aluminum cam gear provide a responsive and aggressive powerband without sacrificing reliability.

Fuel delivery is handled by dual Weber 40 IDF carburetors, paired with MSG ignition for crisp throttle response and dependable starting. The engine is equipped with a full-flow oiling system, including an external oil filter, oil cooler with thermostat, high-pressure oil lines, and a full-flow oil pump for excellent lubrication and temperature control. A chromoly gland nut, new seals, gaskets, bearings, and proper high-zinc break-in oil were used during assembly. Electrical reliability is improved with a new internally regulated 12-volt alternator.

Power is delivered through a freeway flyer transmission, making this Beetle significantly more comfortable and usable at highway speeds compared to a stock setup.

Suspension and braking have been upgraded to match the performance. The car features a dropped adjustable front beam, allowing for both the lowered stance and proper alignment. Braking is handled by four-wheel disc brakes, a major upgrade over factory drums, providing confident stopping power and modern road manners.

Inside, the Beetle features a custom interior that is both stylish and comfortable. The cabin is finished in a red interior color scheme, nicely coordinated with the exterior paint. Custom high-back bucket seats provide improved comfort and support while maintaining a clean, classic appearance. The dashboard retains its vintage charm and is finished to match the overall aesthetic, with a clean layout and period-correct details. Interior panels, carpeting, and trim are all in very clean condition, reflecting the quality of the build.

A standout functional upgrade is the newly installed diesel heater, providing reliable cabin heat—an excellent addition that makes this Beetle far more enjoyable in cooler weather and ideal for extended drives.

This 1967 Volkswagen Beetle is a turn-key, well-sorted Cal Look build that offers the perfect balance of classic style, performance upgrades, and real-world usability. Whether you're looking for a show-quality cruiser, a weekend driver, or a standout air-cooled Volkswagen with documented mechanical work, this Beetle checks all the boxes.
