Description

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this sweet Bordeaux Red 1930 Ford Tudor Sedan for sale. This is an ultra-custom build, the result of a three year long build, completed entirely by its owner, and features many unique and thoughtful touches. Starting with a notched and bobbed chassis from a '32 Ford, it was given a 3.5-inch chop, through-frame exhaust, and real antique green glass.

It's powered by a tried and true 350 CID small block Chevy V8, backed by a GM TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a 3500RPM stall converter. The mighty mouse has about 10K miles on it since the build was completed, and it comes with some extra performance goodies: a Comp Cams "Mutha Thumpr" cam, Offenhauser 3 carb intake with Offy risers, topped by 3 professionally tuned and synchronized Rochester carbs topped with polished boat style air filter housings. Finned Offenhauser valve covers and matching finned coil cover trim out the engine area. Shorty headers feed into the dual exhaust with its Smithy's mufflers and stainless tips, providing a classic muscle car sound. Out back, a polished Winters quick change rear end makes for extremely rapid gear ratio changes, and this one comes with two sets of gears, so you can run your rear end at 4 different ratios: 3.05:1, 3.48, 4.11, or 4.68:1! Stopping this bad boy is handled by 1940 Ford drum brakes with polished finned Buick brake drums. The backplates have been drilled and polished Lincoln front brake vents were added for improved brake cooling.

It's riding on 6.40-15 Firestone wide whitewall front tires, and 8.20-15 Nadir cheater slicks out back. The vintage rubber wraps steelies with chrome beauty rings and Cragar spinner. The suspension is upgraded with a front Panhard bar and Bilstein shocks all around, including the adjustable coilovers out back. The polished So-Cal steering dampener adds a classy look and aids in steering precision. Its E&J type 20 headlight units are outfitted with halogen bulbs (but all original bulbs and sockets can be retrofitted since the housings were not damaged during the upgrade), and the Mallory dual point distributor was modified by Bill Eckenrode for optimal performance. In a tribute to the dry lakes racers "back in the day", a set of working Stewart-Warner gauges (tack, oil pressure, coolant temp) were installed on the firewall.

Custom touches continue inside, with hand-stitched synthetic leather everywhere, including customized door cards, headliner, and real 1965 Ford Mustang seats. Most won't notice, but once you know, you can easily make out the tribute to the polished stainless trim of the custom-modified 1942 Mercury's dash, which continues lengthwise from the dash all the way to the custom storage box in the rear interior. The gauges are restored vintage units, modified by Maring & Co. of Los Angeles, and feature custom machined bezels. The steering wheel is a 15-inch vintage tribute Ford unit, and the Ididit tilt column adds to driver comfort. The shifter ball is vintage ivory. The sound system is a Bluetooth unit, and features 6x9 inch rear speakers and 5.25-inch units in the front kick panels. The rear storage unit in the rear covers the massive Rockford Fosgate amp, which really makes the sound pop.

This sweet 1930 Ford Tudor custom is the result of a painstaking effort to create a traditional, yet still unique vintage hot rod. It has been recognized with wins in many hot rod shows in Texas, and even featured in a magazine, so if you want to add an instant trophy-getter to your collection, call or email our Houston Showroom today!
