Although it's known for building off-roaders, Jeep proved that on-road performance wasn't out of the realm of its capabilities when it launched the Grand Cherokee SRT8 for 2006. Chrysler's Street and Race Technology (SRT) division turned the third-generation Grand Cherokee into a sports car by adding a big V8 engine, a drivetrain-specific transfer case, and a comprehensively overhauled suspension system. While it wasn't light, the SRT8 was quicker to 60 mph than a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Power comes from a 6. 1-liter Hemi V8 fitted with a Vortech V-3 supercharger, rated at 420 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque in stock, naturally aspirated form.
