Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1933 Pontiac Sedan. Pontiac was introduced in 1926 as the companion marque to GM’s Oakland division. Within months of its introduction Pontiac was outselling the Oakland division leading to their demise in 1932. 1933 would be a very successful year for Pontiac with their new extended line-up and the popular entry level inline 8 for under 600 dollars. This 33 is as original as I have seen. Purchased in 1933 by a doctor who left it to his son which was then placed in storage where it would sit until A man in South Carolina would buy it and massage it back to running order. With the car showing 13464 on the odometer and branded actual on the title this truly is a one of a kind find. With all the panels original to the car this is one of the best examples you will find. Repainted back to its original black the car looks amazing and shows extremely well. Naturally with the paint being so slick and smooth the chrome had to be sent off to be replated giving the car a finished and polished look. The white walls are exactly what you would expect from a car of this era and look right at home on this pre-war car. Look inside and the interior compliments the exterior perfectly. Although it has been redone it was restored using the original style fabric and looks as good as the rest of the car. The vent windows work and are fully functional making this a great car for a spring cruise. It was in the Shelby Heritage Center in Las Vegas Nevada the last two years on display. This is the first Shelby-built FIA Group II, SCCA Trans Am Series Competition Mustang Coupe. VIN 7R01A164680. This is the first car built (of the 26 total Road Race Competition Coupes), Produced at the LAX, Shelby California Facility. Ordered/Purchased by George Kirksey (Associated Press/Houston, Texas, Professional Sportswriter, Shareholder of the Houston Astro Baseball Franchise, responsible for bringing Major League Baseball to Houston, Executive Promoter and amateur Porsche 911 SCA Club Race Car Driver). Partnered with Carroll Shelby and Freddie Van Beuren Sr. (Wealthy Businessman from Mexico) to purchase the very first, Shelby Competition Coupe, to compete in the 1967 SCCA Trans-Am/A-Sedan Championship. Purchased for the sum of $5,500 plus a $150 delivery charge. Delivered, sorted and used as a "mule" test car for the remaining 25 cars Shelby would build in 1967 by Chuck Cantwell and Jerry Titus prior to delivery at the Willow Springs, California Race Track (historical notes from Cantwell and Titus are available in the historical document files), to Sebring International Raceway for the second race (of the eleven-race series) of the 1967 Trans-Am Season (finished 41st/51 laps/Differential failure). With the popularity of resto-mods, or complete frame off restorations, there are fewer and fewer survivors out there. This particular 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix is an unrestored car with 54,986 original miles. The engine and trans are original and believed to have never been out of the car. It has the 400 CID V8 and an automatic which run and shift beautifully. The exterior is green which is in surprising great shape for the age of the vehicle. Needless to say, most mid 70s muscle cars have either been wrapped around trees or rusted to pieces. It great to see such a well-preserved piece of Pontiac history.
