Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando is proud to present this 1972 VW Beetle. In 1972 VW achieved an incredible milestone, In February of 72, when beetle #15,0007,034 was produced. While the sheer number of beetles produced was indeed staggering it was in this year that the VW Beetle surpassed the Ford Model T for total number produced. By June 1992 there have been more than 21 million Beetles produced. Due to their inexpensive initial cost, repair cost, and ease of maintenance it's very easy to see why the bug is a perfect canvas for car guys all over the world. The sub-genre of beetle customizations is limitless but usually revolve around a few styles such as Patina, Original German or OG, Euro, or Cali style. This AMG Silver 72 is actually a very cool combination of Euro, OG, and Cali style. Starting with the OG portions of the build, the interior springs out first, done in traditional German Red Touring Vinyl stretched over pre-1971 low back seats, High back seats were mandated by the DOT in 1971 for crash safety. The wheels have been traditional VW steelies that have been painted to match the interior and are equipped with early model baby moons and chrome trim rings. The engine is still just a 1600CC dual port which matches the personality of this bug quite well with it being a visual piece there's no need for exotic CC or stroker combinations that could hinder the reliability of the traditional 1.6l. The euro portion of this build is quite evident in the blinding AMG Silver paint job on the exterior of this ride. Inside the headliner has been redone with silver suede to give it a very clean look. LED tail lights and bumper delete complete the Euro look by cleaning up and modernizing the exterior. Cali style additions are most notably the air ride system complete with Vaiair compressor and 3gal tank. Adding to the SoCal look of this rig is the standoff rear deck lid conversion that opens up the deck lid to allow for better cooling and definitely gives it that cali street look. Inside the cab there are some nice touches that don't really fall under any type of customization genre. She is equipped with a nice kenwood deck with CD player that has an aux USB hook up, a nice chromed out fire extinguisher and a set of drilled billet pedals. This is one fun little bug. The empi short throw shifter with trigger reverse is a very common and worthwhile upgrade. This one is one of kind!!! This cute little bug is ready to take home and enjoy!
