The El Camino is a staple in hot-rod culture and this early 70’s model falls in arguably the most desirable time-period for these vehicles. El Caminos are prized by collectors for not only the great look but the functionality of having a full pickup bed and the driving habits of a car. This 1971 SS is painted in Burnt Orange with White vinyl roof, “Rally Stripes” and has a tonneau cover for the fully-painted bed as well which not only covers your belongings from weather but also provides the functional element of improved aerodynamics. The “SS” badging, cowl induction and custom Sport wheels give you some idea of the punch this ride is packing and that’s evident when you pop the hood pins to discover a 454 CID V8 engine that appears to be what was installed in this car new (we have a copy of the Sales sheet) although Gateway Classic Cars has not verified originality. The owner of this El Camino states that the motor does have the factory cam and was rated at 365hp. A stout 3-speed automatic transmission helps shift the gears on this Chevrolet through a Posi 12-bolt rear end. Furthermore, a recent exhaust swap with headers was installed for an improved performance/soundtrack to enjoy- the correct exhaust manifolds are included with the sale. Saddle White vinyl interior greets your eyes when you hop into this EL Camino for sale and looks to be in good condition for the age. There’s bucket seats, full instrumentation, an SS steering wheel, cruise control, AM/FM stereo and a spare tire present.
