1971 Dodge Charger

View Description

Based on what the decoded fender tag indicates, this car is nearly the same as it was when it rolled off the manufacturing line in 1971! It appears to have been a special-order configuration, based on the 'Sold Car' designation (code Y14) on the fender tag, since it's a base Charger with some premium options. For starters, the 300HP 383 CID V8 with 4BBL carburetor (codes N1E and E65) was not the standard engine in a base Charger, nor was the Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission (code D32). It's painted in its original Dark Blue Metallic (GB7), but the original (white) Vinyl Canopy Roof (V4W) is no longer present; nor are the original black Accent Stripes (V7X) or Belt Moldings (M31), but frankly, it presents a nice clean look without those items. By 1974 Dodge was well into the 3rd generation of the iconic Charger. Mid 70s was a tough time for muscle and the masses were looking for more comfortable luxury cars. 1974 would be the last year that Dodge would offer performance options on a Charger. After nearly 50 years, this slick Charger is still ready to cruise down the road! The gold paint is sharp and not a color we have had very often. The white Landau top adds a lot of character and is also in good shape. Inside looks like a time capsule, the gold cloth seats look hardly used. Under the hood, per the owner, is the original 318ci V8 backed by an automatic transmission. Odometer only shows 24k miles elapsed but unsure if original, so we are NOT claiming actual. The overall condition of the car coupled with the owner believing it has only been painted it could be true mileage. Current owner has had her for 3 years, acquired from a private owner. She is titled as a 1974 Dodge Charger Special...
