The MGA is a sports car that was produced by MG from 1955 to 1962. The MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and represented a complete styling break from MG's earlier sports cars. Announced on 26 September 1955 the car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A total of 101,081 units were sold through the end of production in July 1962, the vast majority of which were exported. Only 5869 cars were sold on the home market, the lowest percentage of any British car. Then was replaced by the MGB. The 1500 cc flat 4 engine produced 68 hp in the first year, but was soon uprated to 72 hp for the following. Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes were used on all wheels as this restoration is 95% correct. The MG Car Company Limited was founded in 1924 just south of Oxford England. The MGA was a two seater sports roadster which came out in 1955. The body on frame design featured beautiful low slung doors and a long bonnet. This example is finished in a stunning coat of black which really shows off the bodylines. The front grill is unmistakably British, even without the Union Jack emblem. These headlights have beautifully chromed wire mesh rock guards for a period correct look. All of the bright work is in wonderful condition from the bumpers to the fantastic wire wheels with true knock offs. The interior is a brilliant red upholstery with a black dashboard. What a dashboard this car has! It's a small interior but the dashboard is laid out with full instrumentation in the form of chrome rimmed analogue gauges. To steer the vessel, an ample sized steering wheel is wrapped in leather and has delicate chrome spokes. There's just enough room to fit...
