This 1966 Mustang is part of the first-generation Ford produced from 1964 until 1969. Within the first production year more than 417,000 Mustangs were sold, setting a record for a new model from Detroit; not to mention creating an entire class of automobiles by itself. These cars had sporty long hoods, along with short rear decks, and became the progenitor of the 'Pony Car' market. The '66 Mustang was the beginning of a market that still is going strong today, with Camaros, Challengers, Cougars, Barracudas and more joining the fray in the early years.
