The Mustang was born in April 1964 and thus referred to as 1964 1/2 models and quickly gained acceptance by the general public. Lee Iacocca was the Vice President of Ford at the time and referred to the popularity of the Mustang craze as a 'Home Run' for Ford. The little 4-seater 2-door car was soon seen everywhere and was the most successful launch by Ford since the Model A.
