1972 was the final year for the styling introduced in 1968 when all of General Motor's mid-sized cars began using two different wheelbase sizes, including a shorter 112-inch platform for the two-doors and a longer 116-inch wheelbase for the four-door body styles. 1972 was the last model year for the mid-sized Buick Skylark. Originally a base Skylark with a smaller displacement engine and column shifted automatic, this vehicle was nothing more than a casual cruiser. The builder of the vehicle wasn't satisfied having it 'average' and wanted to take the vehicle to the next level. The original power plant was removed in favor of a 454 big block Chevrolet engine. The 454 makes gobs of torque and bellows a throaty rumble when you step on the gas. The hood-mounted tachometer keeps tabs on the engine speed while you keep an eye on the road.
