1972 marked the last year of truly collectible Chevelles. A common misunderstanding is that these cars had lost all their power by then. Truth is, the biggest difference maker was, how the HP numbers were read. Before numbers were taken at the crank with no accessories or exhaust hooked up. Now they were what is known as -Real World Numbers' or the rating directly from taken from the rear wheels. having that said if you-re looking for a -Real World' performer look no further. This Chevelle has a balanced and blue printed 454 crate motor putting out an astonishing 425+ horse's. I say plus because the owner decided the 425 was not enough so once he got the crate motor the decision was made to put a set of X-heads and an aluminum intake giving it more power as well as a better response out of the hole. This runner is fitted with a rebuilt and ready to roll 350 V8, with a freshly rebuilt 3 speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain is said to be original, and the transmission now has a shift kit and 2,400 RPM stall converter. The rear end was recently outfitted with 3. 55 Posi-Traction making this a fantastic conversation. A properly set up small block like this with the right running gear backing it up can make for a much more fun to drive than some big blocks.
