The Challenger nameplate began in 1969 as a 1970 model. Over the years, three generations of the Challenger have been produced on and off till the present. The first- generation Challenger was produced from 1970 -1974. Having a longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and a more luxurious interior resulted in the Challenger having its own niche market. Dodge sold the car with every engine size, trim levels and options it had in its arsenal. Even though the Challenger struggled for sales at the time, today it is highly collectable in the muscle car market.
