The 1978 Indy 500 Pace Car marked the first time a Corvette was chosen as the pace car for the Indy 500 and happened to be the 25th anniversary of the Corvette. This well-cared for Corvette is powered by an L82 350 CID small block V8 engine, backed by a GM TH350 3-speed automatic. The L82 was the performance-oriented choice over the L48 option, and in 1978 was putting out 220HP (vs 185HP for the L48).
