Fifth generation Eldorados (1979-1985) were much improved from previous years. Independent rear suspension was all new, which helped retain rear-seat and trunk room. The most recognizable exterior feature was now the extreme notchback roofline. The Biarritz models were topped with a stainless-steel roof that looks very sharp. The Eldorado also featured frameless door glass, and rear quarter windows, similar to those from 1967 to 1970, without a thick 'B' pillar.
