1979 Cadillac PHAETON

After a very successful launch of the radically downsized Coupe and Sedan DeVilles for 1977, in 1978 Cadillac introduced an optional 'Phaeton' package. Available on both coupe and sedan, the $1,929 PHAETON package featured a simulated convertible-top, special pinstriping, wire wheel discs, and 'Phaeton' nameplates in place of the usual 'Coupe de Ville' or 'Sedan de Ville' ornament on the rear fenders. Inside were leather upholstered seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel matching the exterior color. The package was available in 'Cotillion White' (with Dark Blue roof), 'Slate Firemist ' (with a Black roof), and Antique Slate Gray leather interior as seen here or 'Arizona Beige' (with a Dark Brown roof) 1979 quietly marked the last year for Cadillac's 425 cubic inch (7. 0 liter V8).
