This is the pure essence of an entry level Hotrod. This -32 Ford Roaster is very simple, yet very reliable and a blast to drive. The body actually sits on a 1957 frame with the front suspension from the Thunderbird, and the rear end is a rock solid Ford 9 inch rear end. Because the T-bird frame, this Roadster rides really well. The 302 engine is an early 70-s unit and is backed by a 2-speed Fordomatic transmission. The 302 engine has slightly higher compression, and 93 Octane gas is recommended. In front, is a chrome -32 Ford grille insert to give it the classic Hotrod look. The fiberglass body has been painted in a Mopar color known as -Goofy Grape-. It tends to look more blue than purple when photographed. The interior is cool, but with a practical touch. There is always the chance of being caught out in the rain, so the interior is made out the same upholstery used on boats. It will dry out in a matter of minutes. The 1960 Imperial adopted wildly exaggerated styling, featuring front fascia with a swooping bumper, gaping mesh grille, giant chrome eagle, and hooded quad headlights, and tall rear fins. Soaring fins had bullet style tail lamps at the peak of the fin, with a chrome ring surrounding it. The grille and bumper on the front of the 1960 used large pieces of heavy chrome, and the 'furrowed brows' of the fenders over the double sets of headlights gave the car a ponderous look. In common with most other 1960 Chrysler products, the Imperial featured the new 'High-Tower' seat with the driver-side back individually contoured and raised above of the rest of the front seat for increased driver comfort and shoulder support. This would last through the 1962 model year. Also, for 1960, Imperial changed back to 15-inch diameter wheels from the 14-inch diameter wheels that had been standard since the 1957 model. Imperial LeBarons now featured a distinctive smaller 'formal rear window' for greater rear seat privacy. Sales increased to 17,719. Imperial again finished ahead of Lincoln, but never did so again. This little pickup is show ready from front to back in it's classic, true rat rod styling. Built with a 327 cubic inch motor, pumping out the ponies in all of it's chrome glory, and backed up to a Turbo Hydramatic 350 3 speed Automatic transmission, this rod is ready to mount up, turn the key and hit the streets. The rear end is loaded up with a 3. 55:1 gear set, capable of burning the tires off, but not drinking too much gas to do it. The outside is painted in a Matte Black finish that has a subtle American Graffiti styling. Accented in all the right places with a touch of Gloss Red, on all of the frame components. To show off the massive sound and power of this little Rod, the engine has been fitted with Lake Pipes, and are capped off with removable exhaust caps, then re-routed to a custom built exhaust system out the back. These cars were made popular during the street rod era, by taking your regular Ford Model T, and cutting them up. The entire vehicle is made to custom order and separated to the individual. Typically speaking, a T Bucket starts with the engine, most notably a V8. This one here is packing a Ford Boss302 block, which is an astounding small block powerhouse for such a small and custom car. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic, known as the C4, a very popular choice amongst street rodders and drag racers alike. Now although these cars aren't the most well optioned, they do make quite a statement driving down the road with the long tube open headers.
