The Suburban nameplate has been a staple in the General Motors lineup since 1935. Considered to be the first mass produced station wagon. The 1979 GMC Suburban is a seventh- generation model that was produced from 1973-1991. Prior to 1973 the Suburban had only one door on the left side. Front and rear air conditioning, an optional heater under the 3rd rear seat and easy access step-plates were introduced.
This 1979 GMC Suburban 2500 is equipped with the optional YE9 Sierra Classic Package. The package included a chrome grille, deluxe instrument panel with brushed aluminum dash panel, door pull handles and lower carpet on the door panels.
