What is it? A car? A truck? A car-truck? It-s none of the above. It-s Chevrolet-s ICONIC El Camino and if you want to get technical, it is a coupe utility. The El Camino was based on a two-door station wagon and although it was based on a car line, it-s titled and classified as a truck.

What you see here is not the average 1981 El Camino. The fifth generation -Elky-s- were known to have rust issues, which makes a solid body basic El Camino highly sought after. This El Camino not only has a solid body, it received a frame-on restoration in 1997 and has been pampered, spoiled, and garaged kept ever since.

This is not your typical paint-over-the-original-paint rush job. Before the GM -HOT ROD RED- paint was applied to the entire body, it was bead blasted. This process ensured that all the previous paint was removed, leaving a bare metal surface as the starting foundation. Twenty-one years later the color still shines brightly, shows well, and proves it was both money and time well spent.

Talk about a customized beast! This Bronco sports a pro built, high performance yet very streetable 400 from a 1977 Lincoln, rebuilt 40,000 miles ago. No expense spared from this balanced and blueprinted powerplant, 8 qt pan with high volume pump, +. 030 over 9 to 1 forged pistons -' wrapped with total seal rings, double roller timing chain turning a crane bumpstick, stainless steel valves and roller rockers, topped off with a Holley aluminum intake, new demon carb. and K&N filter. The gases exited via ceramic coated hooker super comp headers, a B&M off road torque converter puts the power to the modified C-6 tranny (rebuilt 25,000 miles ago) with lower 2 gears planetary set, B&M shift kit and Ford motorsport needle bearing set. The transfer case was rebuilt, front and rear axles had 3:73 gears installed, new friction disks installed in 9- limited slip rear, the front axle is a Dana 44 rev. rotation with trac-loc. The brakes and master cylinder were replaced, along with ball joints, tie rod ends, 33- tires, dual front shocks, front and rear sway bars and rancho suspension. Smooth solid ride handled by rancho lift kit no matter what the terrain!
