Among cars from the 80's, there have been quite a few models that have reared their head into achieving more and more popularity and the G-Body cars have climbed the scale quickly along side the 3rd generation Camaro's and Firebirds. The Monte, which shares a chassis with the Regal/Grand National and Oldsmobile Cutlass, packs a 305 cubic inch small block V8 which makes a throaty exhale through a Flowmaster exhaust. This 1987 Monte Carlo has been extensively modified. It is powered by a 355 CI chevy small block with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission. Paint is custom Redfire with Burgundy cloth interior. The hood is a 4-inch Glasstek fiberglass piece. The engine is a 4 bolt main 355CI GM crate motor with 10. 5-1 compression. It has Dart sportsman 2 heads with comp hydraulic cam and full roller rockers by BPH racing engines. Edelbrock Performer RPM plate nitrous system and an MSD billet distributor with timing control and 6AL ignition. A five-core aluminum radiator keeps everything cool. Ceramic headers with custom 3' exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. The turbo 350 was also modified and includes a Boss Hogg torque converter and a steel 3-inch driveshaft. The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a two-door coupe that was manufactured and marketed by the Chevrolet division of General Motors. The Monte Carlo was marketed as the first 'personal luxury car' of the Chevrolet brand. Introduced for the 1970 model year, the model line was produced across six generations through the 2007 model year, with a hiatus from 1989-1994. The Monte Carlo was a closely aligned variant of the Pontiac Grand Prix through its entire production. For 1986, there were four distinct body styles available. The base model Sport Coupe was still available with the same general body panels that it had since 1981 but featured new 'aero' side mirrors similar to those on Camaros and Chevrolet Corvette of the 1980s. Also new this year was the Aero Coupe model. The Aero Coupe was created by modifications to the Super Sport body, including a more deeply sloped rear window and a shorter trunk lid sporting a spoiler that lay more flat than previous Super Sports. During the 80's the G-Body cars including the Oldsmobile Cutlass, The Monte Carlo, and the Buick Regal came out as a larger body car that came with a sports car like attitude which gained crowd and popularity for years to come. The Monte Carlo SS featured a 305 cubic inch small block V8 bolted to a TH200 4-speed automatic transmission with electronic overdrive which made for easy operation paired with a smooth riding take on reliability. The Monte we have sitting before us is an Aerocoupe, which is most noticeable by the rear window having more of a 'bubble-like' design offering a more aerodynamic look on the car while not taking away from its already muscular look and stance. The black paint on the outside is accompanied by red SS graphics and striping giving a contrasted mean looking appearance. When you open the door, you see a dark red cloth interior which has been very well preserved over the years and contrasts beautifully against the black exterior.
