Model years for the Monte Carlo were from 1970-1987 and 1994-2007. Built over six generations as a two-door personal luxury car. Our 1978 Monte is a third- generation model produced from 1978-1980. In response to government fuel requirements the 1978 model was 15 inches shorter and 800lbs lighter than its predecessor. But ironically has more interior and trunk space than the 1977 model. All things considered; the third generation Monte Carlo still retained its modern full-size luxury persona.
