This Chevrolet was purchased in 1980 and was completely disassembled, sand blasted, and rebuilt. Originality was a key part of the restoration, and the bar was certainly met with this build. The day restoration was complete this Business Coupe was a fair-weather driver, and always kept in a climate-controlled facility. The 216 CID six-cylinder engine is believed to be original to the 37- Chevrolet, as is the 3-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission have approximately 500 miles on them since being rebuilt, along with the rest of the car. The black exterior paint is by PPG and is accented by a double red pin stripe that runs down each side. The grayish brown cloth interior is in very good condition, showing little to no signs of wear. The odometer reads 35,642, the actual mileage is unknown, but approximately 500 miles have been put on the car since the build was complete. The AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 to 1970. The AMX was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other American cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name AMX is actually an acronym for American Motors eXperimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The AMX was also the only American-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat American muscle car: the Chevrolet Corvette.
