This 1953 Dodge is a gorgeous truck that has been totally taken down and built back up again. We can start with the front end. It was custom built for the truck to replicate a Mustang II front end. This helps with the stance of the truck as well as giving it a more comfortable ride. It also helps support the additional weight of the replacement motor. The 340 V8 was originally designed in the late 60\'s to give Chevys 350 and Fords 289 a run for their money. It was made by taking MOPAR-S already potent 318 block and boring it out by 103mm. They followed that up by tossing out the old cast iron crankshaft in favor of a much stronger forged steel one. Unfortunately this would all come a little too late. By 1973 the new emission laws made Dodge scrap the project making the 340 sought after to this day. The 340 is then linked up to an even more popular MOPAR staple, the 727 torq-flite.
