1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am

This Trans Am is finished in gloss black paint with painted gold decals and pin striping. The rising Phoenix or 'Screaming Chicken' (whichever you choose to call it) stands proud on the hood of this classic Trans Am. Pontiac produced a special edition Trans Am in 1976 to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, it featured the same black and gold treatment. This particular Trans Am is not a Special Edition, but it sure does look good with this paint scheme and wheels. Originally this 76' Trans Am featured a 400 CID V8, but in 1979 the 400 was swapped out for a 455 CID V8 that was donated from a 1971 GTO. The 455 was bored to 468 CID, and was blueprinted and balanced. A TH350 automatic transmission with a 2,400 converter transfers the power to the 12 bolt Posi-Trac rear end that houses 3. 50 gears.
