The Pontiac Firebird was designed by John Delorean and Bill Collins and debuted in 1967. In March 1969, a $725 optional handling option called the -Trans Am performance and appearance package-, UPC -WS4- was offered. Named after the Trans Am race series, only 689 hardtops and 8 convertible models were made that year. That initial model year, customers could order any color combination they desired as long as it was Cameo Ivory with Blue accent stripes and Blue vinyl interior. This 1971 Cameo White 1971 Trans Am is one of 1231 Built that year according to the Pontiac Historical Society. It has a High Output 455 V8 with a functional Ram Air Scoop. Increase the throttle and the back of the shaker hood scoop opens allowing fresh air to flow in. A turbo 400 automatic transmission transfers the power to a 3:08 Posi traction rear end.
