Ford did not offer a convertible for 1979, but a company in Beverly Hills CA called American Custom Coachworks, LTD decided the car would be better with a drop top. They engineered a way to remove the steel top, strengthen the body to accommodate the open roof, and add their custom power top mechanism that looks so good you'd think it came from the factory. The vehicle still retains the full use of the back seat and all over features including power windows. This allows for the ultimate 4 seater convertible that will certainly stand out from the crowd. It is believed that only about 1000 conversions were completed in 1979, and this one has got to be one of the best preserved examples.
