The 210 was a mid-range model for Chevrolet, positioned between the base 150 and the premium Bel Air. The 210 replaced the Styleline Deluxe model and was produced from 1953 to 1957. It was then replaced by the Biscayne for the 1958 model year. The 210 offered the broadest choice of body styles, which included a convertible, Sport Coupe, hardtop, 2 and 4 door sedans, and 4 door station wagons. The 210 was available with the same options as the Bel Air that were not available on the 150, including seat adjusters, power windows, and a Powerglide automatic transmission. It was also less expensive than the glamorous Bel Air, which is why it was the best-selling model for Chevrolet in 1953 and 1954. This particular 210 is powered by a 235 CID Inline 6 cylinder that is mated to a Powerglide automatic transmission. Pontiac was introduced by General Motors in 1926 and was to be the companion to GM-s Oakland Division, which GM purchased in 1909. Shortly after in was introduced, Pontiac began outselling Oakland, and Pontiac became the only companion marque to outlive its parent company, as the last of the Oaklands rode off the assembly line in 1932. By 1933 Pontiac was producing the least expensive cars equipped with straight eight engines. They were able to keep cost down by using the body and other parts from a 6-cylinder Chevrolet Master. To differentiate it, they installed the -Silver Streak,- a large chrome strip running down the center of the hood. The 3. 7L, 233 CID straight eight-cylinder engines produced 77 horsepower and had a maximum speed of 78 miles per hour. A 3-speed manual transmission transfers those 77 horses to the rear end and to the pavement via the wide white wall bias ply tires.
