The Eldorado first debuted all the way back in 1953. The nameplate was selected for its meaning. In Spanish Eldorado translates as 'the gilded' or 'golden one. ' Naturally referencing the Columbian Lost City of Gold. The Eldorado was the top of the line and naturally the most expensive model for Cadillac for several years. The Eldorado would see production for 12 generations spanning all the way until 2002! This example is an '80 model, the 2nd year of the 10th generation, and has the Biarritz package. The Biarritz package was the mack daddy for its time and cost over $2,900 itself and when added to the price it pushed the MSRP up almost another 20%.
