Many will consider 1971 the beginning the end for the horsepower wars. With unleaded gas becoming the standard and smog regulation's tightening, there were an increasing number of hurdles for the big three to jump through. The 71 Corvette is probably the least changed from the previous year with the parking lights being amber instead of clear. There were a couple different engine options available but the LT1 was a small block, solid lifter engine capable of producing a very respectable 330HP from the factory. This black beauty is a real deal numbers matching 1971 LT1 car that has been repainted to Factory GM black. Ofcourse you could not get a black Corvette in 71 so when the original Ontario Orange had faded away in 91 the owner decided to do what Chevrolet should have and painted the car. 1981 was a year of first for the Corvette. Not only was this the first year for Corvettes to be produced at two factories but it was also the first year for the now historic Bowling Green plant. The STL plant cars were only available in solid colors while the new revolutionary bowling green plant had the capability to paint them two tone, a rather extravagant option for a production car in 1981. This beauty has been well maintained with the paint looking as if it just rolled out of St Louis. With the odometer showing a mere 2695 actual miles this beauty has lived a pampered life.
