This car was originally a 390 but the owner felt like that just wasn't quite enough so the 428 was dropped in. A decision that has never been regretted. This 5th generation F-series truck is a Grand Father and Grand Son project. The body and frame of this cool old Flare Side has 104, 800 miles on it, but has obviously been maintained and still looks great. The 302 CID engine and C-6 automatic transmission only have a little over 1500 miles on them. To keep accurate tabs on the water temperature and oil pressure, a set of aftermarket gauges have been installed. The exhaust system is new, and it has a nice healthy sound. Many of the front suspension parts are new. This includes new kingpins, hubs, spindles, seals, bearings and bushings. The brakes are new, with new drums at all 4 corners. Ford F-Series pickup trucks have been sold continuously since 1948. For the last 67 years Ford has gotten their formula right: reliable drive trains, rugged good looks, and a trim level for every budget. This 1973 F100 with the Ranger package is no exception. With a single-cab/long bed layout, and rear wheel drive, this truck would've made a great work horse in 1973. and probably still would! The truck was born with a 302 CID V8 under the hood which has been a fresh crate 302 CID V8. Backing the V8 is a reliable C4 automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The C-4 transmission has been rebuilt, so the drive train will be in good working order for years to com. The body was repainted in the original color orange; code Y as indicated by the door tag and the Owner card. Currently the truck sits on a nice set of alloy wheels with white letter tires, but the original hub caps are available though in need of refinishing. The Ford Fox platform was used by Ford Motor Company in North America from 1978 to 1993; a substantial redesign of the Ford Mustang in 1994 extended its life another eleven years. With the exception of the Panther platform, the Fox platform is the longest-produced vehicle architecture by Ford Motor Company.
