The iconic cat has come to Philadelphia! Gateway Classic Cars Philadelphia proudly presents this gorgeous 1967 Mercury Cougar to our showroom located in West Deptford, NJ! The big news in 1967 was the release of the Cougar, an upscale take on the Ford Mustang that was deemed -untamed elegance. - Distinguishing itself from the competition, the Mercury Cougar offered buyers European flair with American performance including hideaway headlights and sleeking styling that set it apart from the rest. The Cougar was met with great success and was even utilized by Dan Gurney and his Mercury Trans-Am team! This 1967 Cougar is ready to go and reminisces the glory days of the late 60s and the incredible car culture of which it had a major role. Wearing a glistening coat of Cinnamon Frost paint, this Cougar looks the part and turns heads wherever it roams. Take note of the orange and brown custom pinstriping that graces the subtle lines of the...

This classic Ford is a nice departure from the more popular Mustang. The Cougar was first produced by Ford in 1967 and gained popularity in 1969. This was the only generation of Cougars to be produced with covered headlights. In 1967 and 1968, they were deployed using a vacuum canister system that opened and closed the headlamp doors. For 1969 and 1970, a redesigned vacuum system kept the doors down when a vacuum condition existed in the lines, provided by the engine when it was running. If a loss of vacuum occurred, the doors would retract up so that the headlights were visible if the system should fail. This changed improved the vehicle-s safety. Let's go back for a second, the year was 1969. Things were changing - Woodstock attracts more than 350,000 rock-n-roll fans, Chappaquiddick Affair Senator Edward Kennedy, PBS Established, The first man is landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission by the United States and Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the Moon, and this Cougar was being purchased. Those were the times and driving this classic take...

1967 was the very first year that Mercury released the Cougar line which was largely based on the Mustang; however, the Cougar was not just a dolled-up Mustang. It was a bit longer than the Mustang and had subtle changes throughout. The 302 CID V8 packs a punch and, paired with the automatic C4 transmission, this Cougar is ready to drive anywhere!
Over the past decade, there has been lots of time and energy invested into this car to make it a car that can be relied upon to take out on the weekends and to car shows. The vinyl interior is in great shape and will keep you comfortable no matter how long your cruise is. As you sit behind the wheel, turn the key, and fire up the small block, this classic Cougar comes alive! The C4 transmission transitions nicely between gears and allows the driver to focus on the cruise. The ride is smooth and soaks up all bumps in the...
