It was built from 1946-1964 as the first all steel mass produced station wagon. The two-wheel option was the 'Station Wagon' model, and the four-wheel variation was marketed as the 'Utility Wagon' when introduced in 1949. Many consider the Willys Jeep station wagon to be the forerunner to the now ever popular sport utility vehicle. Production ends at the end for the Willys Station Wagon in the last months of 1964 with the introduction of the Jeep Wagoneer.
