In the Pontiac enthusiast world, the words SUPER DUTY are highly revered. No car exemplified Pontiac's Super Duty philosophy better that the SD-455 Firebirds of the early 70s. By 1972 the writing was on the wall. Performance was out, fuel efficiency and personal luxury was in. When everyone else shuttered their performance plans, Pontiac looked at the memo - then tossed it in the trash! Fortunately, engineers were hard at work on the SD-455 when the winds started changing. So, with minor tweaks to appease the government, the SD-455 hit the streets to rave reviews. It made 290hp and a monstrous 395lb-fts of torque despite concessions to the EPA. A 73-74 Firebird Equipped with a SD-455 was capable of low-mid 13 second mile times when a Corvette struggled to do better than 14 seconds. This 1974 SD-455 Trans Am was a well-documented and preserved, original, Buccaneer Red rocket, before undergoing rotisserie restoration to showroom condition. Everything is as it was when built except for some choice enhancements by Pontiac performance specialist, Butler performance.
