The fourth generation WS6 cars were the fastest Pontiac had ever produced at the time and in hindsight they represented one of the final performance vehicle hurrahs for the brand, which was discontinued permanently in 2010. It's been more than 20 years since this car rolled off the production line and collectors have started to pounce on the good examples out there. Of course, this isn't your average Trans AM WS6! The PPG 'Oh So Orange' paintjob on this car is nothing short of astonishing and is the headlining event on this 1999 Pontiac that has earned it the tasteful nickname 'Orange Julius'. The orders came flying in but Studebaker's problem was they couldn't keep pace with demand. The Avanti had a complex fiberglass body construction that required more time and skilled labor to produce than customers had patience for. Buyers grew tired of waiting and canceled their orders, meanwhile parent company Studebaker's financial woes and death spiral continued to worsen. The short 18-month production run for the Avanti ended in December 1963 with less than 5,000 cars built in total- this car would have been built in late '63 but titled as a 1964.
